The team at Showreel magazine produced two supplements regarding Sony HDV and XDCAM in recent issues of Showreel and Newsreel (a new sister publication). The 36-page supplements were sponsored by Sony but written by cinematographers and industry professionals thereby retaining a level of independence (in fact Sony did not have any input or approval rights).
For those of you who do not subscribe to either of the magazines and would like to read these in-depth supplements go to www.sonybiz.net and search for Showreel magazine (I found this was the easiest route). They can be downloaded in pdf form for free.
