I have been contacted by a reputable agent representing a well known actress regarding her participation in The Hardballers www.thehardballers.com (http://www.thehardballers.com) I have not yet begun feature casting yet but the attachment of this actress would make financing a much smoother process. The agent has suggested an 'attachment agreement.' I know this is common but I am not familiar with them. The project has been generating a LOT of strange contact lately and I am currently deciding the best path to follow. Has anyone had any experience with 'talent attachment agrements' or any samples?

A letter of attachment (or "intent") isn't worth much. Unless the actor is willing to legally bind themselves to the project no matter what, a LOI will simply state that the actor has read the script and will play a specific part as long as nothing else gets in the way. In other words, if by the time you raise the money "actor" has a better deal or simply decides to spend that six weeks with the family in Colorado, they aren't required to appear in your movie.
That's not a guarantee a legit investor will go for.
The agent will have copies of these agreements.

That's pretty much what I understand about the agreement - that and it works the other way around as well - I would not be bound to that actor either and free to recast the part - which as you state doesn't make for a whole lot of reason unless they are suggesting something 'firmer.'
