I am looking for festivals to enter my short into also, I'm looking for advise from some more experienced people on the subject. First of all, about my film. It is just over 8 minutes long, it's about a cocky college kid who believes a girl he met online is out to get him. He rejects her advances and the very next day he runs into a string of bad luck. I'm not sure what to call it ie. comedy, suspence. I was wondering if certain festivals cater to certain movies or not. Any suggestions on this matter?

There are thousands of film festivals. I suggest you get Chris Gore's book or do some Internet research.

Yes, that book by Chris Gore (Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide, 3rd ed.) is well worth the 20-bucks.
Of the over 1000 fests it covers, it has little notes on each... including which genres each fest tends to show the most.
Sounds just like what you are looking for.

Would the 2nd editon be good also or is it outdated now?

There was a fair gap between 2 & 3.
I suppose 2nd ed. is still a fairly useful reference, but I imagine it's best to keep as current as possible. :)

For the most part... yes. :)
There are a few fests that place a premium on the film being a "premiere"... it's a fairly short list, though, and usually applies to feature-length material.
