I need a steadicam-like wireless video solution. I want to hook this up to a mobile camera. Ideally the transmitter would be small and battery powered, I don't care how big the receiver is. Any ideas on a cheap solution? I need it to handle NTSC video fairly cleanly.

Anyone else done this? Have any pointers?

Thanks,
Joe Hunt

Actually, I was looking for sub $100 dollar solutions, and think I found one. The problem with the 900Mhz, 2.4GHx, etc. is you need both the receiver and the transmitter and so it ends up costing several hundred dollars. I found a TV transmitter from Ramsey Electronics for $50 that I can use as the transmitter and use a TV tuner to pick up the signal.

There is also another "high power" version for $80. I ordered one to try it out. The problem with this solution is that it is single channel. If I get interference on the channel I am screwed. For $100 you can get a 6 channel tv transmitter kit (some assembly required, and much larger)

I am crossing my fingers.

Cool. Glad you found what you needed.

Are you recording from the RF signal or using it to monitor?

Just to monitor. I'm sure the quality will take a hit, but hopefully the framing will not.
