I want to study film production in Toronto. Am thinking of either Trebas Institute or Toronto Film College. I'm sure there are lots more, but does anybody know of these two? Opinions? thanks

:welcome: to Indietalk Clauds.

We have a few people on the boards from Toronto who should be able to help you out.

i have been looking into the Toronto FIlm School (academy of arts and design), located downtown. To my surprise, the course is over $25,000. This is kind of a bummer since i cant afford this...but id really love to attend this school and learn as much as possible

You'd get better money back if you just learnt the basics of filmmaking here and on the web, and put that $25,000 into a movie.

Unless you really want to go to school.

this is true, im trying to learn as much as possible here on the web. My only problem is getting hands on experience (since i work as a plumber). It's jsut harder for me to find the time to work on sets.

I actually lived in Toronto last year and was VERY close to going to that school. I went to U of T last year which is why I was looking at school in TO. My film teacher from high school however really discouraged that school though. He said that the teachers weren't people who were in the industry (which is what they say), but are people who have had a stop in their film career (so... they can't find a job more or less)... anyway... if you want something good in TO, look into ryerson!
