What is the name of the effect when all colours are desaturated from the picture but leaving just one, eg. red in the white stripes live vid for one of teh elephant songs...

Ive been racking my brains on what it is called, but cant think of it.. someone refered to it as spot colour, but dont think its called that..

also, can it be done in final cut pro?

Rotoscoping?

It's all desaturated, with the red placed back in in certain areas?

ah i thought that was how they did it, but i felt there might have been a filter that did it for you instead of manually putting the red back in.. might be wron tho..

I always thought rotoscoping was sketching over frame by frame.. im more knowledgable about new media stuff, so im not too good at my terms..

This is actually relatively easy to achieve with FCP. Use your secondary color corrector to single out a range of colors (all the red that you want visible in this case) and then desaturate the rest.

Hmm, that would be a handy trick if it were that precise.
