Science Fiction - where does it go?

Does anyone know what film festivals accept science fiction work? I'm currently in the process of outlining a science fiction script and i was wondering which festivals accept science fiction work. Anybody help? :)

A lot of horror film festivals have catagories for science fiction and fantasy. Try doing a search on yahoo for horror film festivals then just check out the sites to see who also wants science fiction.

I've never heard of a film being turned away from a European Festival just because it was a genre film. Unless you're looking for a genre specific film festival (in which case I can't help you), just pick out the festivals that you want to go to. Edinburgh is always fantastic and so is the new Leeds festival. And Raindance in London is usually a hoot.

I was flipping through one of those "Ultimate Guide to Film Festival" kind of books, that might be the actual title, last night.. Looked like it covered every genre BUT sci-fi.. but I would assume you can probably send it to just about any festival in the 'indie' list, unless they are only looking for specific things. At any rate, it looked like a decent book to pick up if you're getting ready to do the festival thing.

Austin Film festival has a specific section for sci fi screenplays in their competition... but the contest date has passed...The next due date for 2006 entries is around May 15th 2006.

Just got an email from my withoutabox newsletter... here it is:
