Do you think...

it's necessary to have a "villain" in every film? I mean, is it necessary for every film generally a story of good v. evil?

I'm trying to think off the top of my head of films that don't have the classic "protagonist v. antagonist" theme...

Even love-themed movies typically have this concept in them...

I think it's necessary to have conflict, but your characters needn't be strictly good or evil. A former instructor used to refer to the 'beautiful incongruities (sp)' of a well-articulated character, protagonist or antagonist. :)

I indeed agree with bird on this...The protagonist and antagonist doesn't always have to be a character, there just has to be some sort of conflict and plot to the storyline.
