With a referral from someone who introduces you.
Success also opens doors. There's a saying, how do you get to make a $5mil movie? Make a 1 mil movie that makes 5 mil. How do you get to make a 1 mil movie? make a 250k movie that makes 1 mil... so on and so on. The problem is how to start that success cycle.

What is it you're trying to accomplish? Sounds like you're trying to find a way to finance a movie or are you just trying to hubnub with the rich and famous?

as silly as this may sound. Has any tried LinkedIn? you could start by adding local contacts then work your way up the ladder of contacts

The best way to make industry contacts is by working in the
industry. That's how I have met up with all my great partners
and co-workers. Working side by side on set.

I should have mentioned I wanted to get into producing films and not just directing/writing/acting.
