Only one I can think of right now is Dog Day Afternoon.
Must be police against sombody.

I just noticed that at IMDB.com you can search, with "plot" selected from the list of dropdown filters. :idea:

Pop in words like "hostage" or "standoff" or whatever and you'll get some matches.

Thanks guys. I am looking for standoffs where it is the main action or a long second act, mostly to get a feel for how it would be handled. Looking to read some scripts.
