The Best Cam for Gigs...

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a camcorder, and our budget is 300-500€
I have to shoot some concerts, so the main problem is low light and flashing lights.
I will have an external audio recorder, so I don't care about the audio quality.
I've checked some sample videos on the net. Sony HDR CX190 seems not bad for the price, but I don't know if it is good also in low light conditions.
Moreover I heard that shooting in 24p will give a more cinematographic look to the video, is it true?

teapot - here is the CX190 in low light - not very sharp, even at 1080p: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPF80Wi5YXY

24p is what Hollywood traditionally shoots in - and people are used to it. I personally find it jerky and distracting and have started shooting in 30p or higher for smoother motion.

With your budget, if I wanted something "cinematic", I wouldn't get a camcorder. Instead, I would get something like a large sensor Sony DSLT with video autofocus and something called "shallow depth of field" - which will give you the "blurry backgrounds" seen in cinema. The Sony A37 costs 459€ with the 18-55mm kit lens and can produce results like these:

Hope this is helpful,
