Rokinon 35mm Defect Testing

So I've got a Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 on the way and I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on what tests I can do to ensure quality control is up to snuff. I know Rokinon/Samyang/Bower/ProOptic... etc. run into problems with QC and I'd like to ensure I haven't been shipped a bum copy. While obvious problems (loose parts) are easy to identify, I'm curious how I should go about testing for more subtle flaws (off focus, focus past infinity, softness etc.) that I may not be aware of. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks.

eb - you can go whole hog and get a $600 ISO 12233 test chart in a light box ;)

Or you can try this great free article from Bob Atkins: http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/technical/testing_lenses.html

Also - have you seen this review of the 35/1.4 from Steve Oakley?: http://www.steveoakley.net/template_permalink.asp?id=422

Cheers,

Bill
