Use of poetry quote

I would like to use a quote (2 lines) from a poem in the opening credits and possibly promo poster for a short film (film festivals only). Can I do so, as long as I acknowledge the author? Or would I need to obtain permission to use a quote in such a manner?

The poem is Mad Girl's Love Song by Sylvia Plath. And I forgot to mention a very important detail that might make a difference- the title of the film is actually pulled from the quote.

I doubt it will be a problem drawing the title from the poem but you won't be able to use the quote without permission from the Plath estate as her works aren't public domain yet.

I'll add a second plus one to Nick.

You can use the title. Under "fair use" you can probably use the
2 lines in the opening credits, but you may have a copyright issue
using the two lines on a poster. To get away from "probably" and
"may have" you will need to contact the Plath estate for permission
or a lawyer who specializes in copyright law.
