Guide me on this: Lens

Hello,

I am intending to buy Canon EOS T3i mainly for videos.

Please guide me what lens to go for, kit 18-55 or some prime lens.

I want to make documentaries and short films. Please suggest me one reasonably prices lens for me.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Regards,

Riz

From what I hear, you can't go wrong with the $100 Canon 50mm f/1.8 -- I haven't personally used it however.

If you happen to like the look and usage of the prime lens, then I would recommend your next step up be to look at the Rokinon manual prime lenses (the branding may also be Bower or Samyang, but they're all the same). I'm still working within my means to get more of their lenses (I currently use the 35mm one: http://www.amazon.com/Rokinon-35mm-Lens-Canon-Cameras/dp/B004X1SG12 and the 85mm is on the way). These are considerably more expensive than the kit lens and Canon 50 f/1.8, but they are of the quality of much more expensive lenses. So keep these in consideration as you improve and build up in the future.

Hope this helps!
