Title Effects

Does anyone know what or the best program to use to create cool title effects. I've seen things where the words look like their on fire or exploding words, things on that line.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

After Effects is great if you can afford the software (I rather dislike people who rely on "warez")

There are other programs out there such as AlamDV (which the star wars community loves) which are much cheaper and allow similar (though quite less powerful) tools. I personally dislike AlamDV but others seem to get by just fine with it.

I guess it boils down to how much you have/are willing to spend.
