Our esteemed SCOTT SPEARS (produced with http://www.SoNnybOo.CoM for your free enjoyment) put together this clip on "CHINA LANTERNS, the CHEAP SOFT LIGHT".

For all our D.P.'s or anyone interested in camerawork for both Film & Video, this is a really cool, inexpensive trick, and a handy FREE tip for one & all.

It should also be noted that if you have an existing light fixture, you can buy some rice paper and attach it like a gel.

Hey boo, anything in the pipeline about blue screen / plates etc? Might be cool as and indie tech guide!

Indeed. I'm particuarily interested in the plate part (pulling keys is no problem but creating those darn plates on the other hand...).

I hadn't thought of blue screen, but since Scott & I are shooting some next Wednesday night... might as well!

We're shooting some elements on the DVX100 24p Mini DV and adding it to 35mm film shots. Should be interesting...

I tried looking for the Grip Kit Tips video, but couldn't find it at either scottspears.net or sonnyboo.com

I'm sure it is surrounded by flashing arrows, neon blinking lights, sirens and a banner that flashes "IT IS HERE, STEVE!!"... but I still couldn't find it :(

Any chance of the actual link?

(On the other hand, I did discover that Mr Spears worked on a second Battlestar Galactica series pilot. \:D/ )
