View Full Version : What movie has the highest body count?
mrchicago 05-05-2004, 12:59 AM We had a discussion the other day about what movie holds the world's record for the most killings/deaths. Anyone know?
This was prompted by watching "Kill Bill" and seeing Uma off the 88 gang with her sword. I don't know how many people were killed in "Kill Bill" but it looked like 100+.
Also, if someone could point me to a source to verify the answer... we have a bet going on.
Zensteve 05-05-2004, 01:29 AM Lounging on a bar stool on the set of the House of Blue Leaves, Tarantino admits that realizing this sequence—in which Thurman eviscerates a grand total of 76 masked stuntmen—is the biggest challenge of his directorial career

That's just the Crazy-88 fight, btw.
It's a start, anyway ;) There are a few other non-fan (ie: "news") websites with more bodycounts, with a quick Google.
kaipoman 05-05-2004, 03:02 AM Hot Shots: Part Deux
danielle 05-05-2004, 08:34 AM i'm thinking its probably a war film of some kind... something with an army such as the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness trilogy, Lord of the Rings, etc.
NicklausLouis 05-05-2004, 10:14 AM Hot Shots: Part Deux
Nice
Wouldn't it be an end of the world epic like Independence Day.

Pokeoh yeah good call! haha
What about the various LOTR movies (cough*booksarebetter*cough)? Do 10,000+ CG-orcs count?
danielle 05-05-2004, 11:11 AM dammit Shaw I already said LOTR! :P

On the Beach? When Worlds Collide?
Oi, well that will teach me to post without reading thoroughly! Thanks for pointing it out :D
yeah I'd have to say lotr if you put all of them together, that's not just a lot of orcs, but elves and humans too (and yes the books are better-- And hobbits would be added to the count)
-Tine
>>but elves and humans too<<
Indeed, though that depends on how far back you go in the "history". The downfall of Numenor certainly had to be a large number of people (ie Akallabeth in Adunaic). Anyway, getting a wee bit off topic here :D.
Well yes, but that wasn't in the movie-- that's why the hobbits don't count (in the battle of Bywater)
Fair enough :D Its good to meet some fans around (er of the books that is)!
Shot Renegade 05-06-2004, 07:11 AM Surely it would be in Star Wars, where they blow up whole planets!!!! What a morbid topic :D

i'm just teasing :)

lol yes, but are they not always the best topics? Yeah they blow up planets but having never seen star wars are there people on the planets? Are we including plant life here?
NicklausLouis 05-06-2004, 03:19 PM They only blow up one planet, and only Dick van Patten was on it.

dudebro 05-13-2004, 02:44 PM What about the movie with the least body count? Maybe "Look who's talking?"
Too many tie on that one... it's have to be a cartoon cause how do you know none of the 'characters' (extras) didn't die and it just didn't make it into the story?
Mr.Blonde 05-18-2004, 03:01 AM Ha ha.. 'look who's talking'...lol
Those films are just.... scary. lol
CommanderGoat 05-19-2004, 11:45 PM What about Terminator 2? In the beginning the VO says something like "3 billion human lives ended on August 29th, 1997" Beat 3 Billion!
Mr.Blonde 05-19-2004, 11:50 PM Look who's talking can't beat that!
CommanderGoat 05-19-2004, 11:55 PM Look who's talking can't beat that!
Maybe in a dead sperm count.
Mr.Blonde 05-19-2004, 11:56 PM Maybe!!
Mr.Blonde 05-19-2004, 11:56 PM Maybe!!
NicklausLouis 05-20-2004, 01:09 AM Well wouldn't all apocalyptic films sport a 3 billion plus body count?
Poke
Mr.Blonde 05-20-2004, 02:36 AM That's very very true Poke, nice work.
Shot Renegade 05-20-2004, 07:06 AM Listen guys... think we need to tie this down some what... are we talking people who actually die on screen - coz in terminator 3 that's just a voice over... Or are we talk people who are refering to have died? I mean... people dying on screen - Kill Bill both volumes... think it's been mentioned... OR some japanese manga film that has yet to be discovered....
Mr. Blonde 05-20-2004, 01:58 PM Brave Little Toaster has my vote for the highest body count...i almost had to shut it off half way through because it's just too graphic...[/i]
Shot Renegade 05-20-2004, 03:40 PM What about Battle Royale? You know, japanese film where a bunch of school kids are told to go to an island and kill each other - best detention ever... erm... morbid.
Well wouldn't all apocalyptic films sport a 3 billion plus body count?
Poke
Yes, but I've never seen one where everyone dies, and it's impossable to tell how many survive (ie in that wave movie, I forget what it's called but Elijah Wood is in it, they put 1 million in a cave to save them, but still some people survive cause they get on mountains and stuff)
dudebro 05-23-2004, 05:08 PM Or maybe "She's having a baby", I think the body count in that one is +1, you know after she has the baby at the end? Seriously though, Hot Shots Part Deux. I like when he throws the bullets at a group and they fall dead.
Demosthenes X 07-11-2004, 01:56 AM If you want to debate body count, doesn't it really have to be people you at least see die? i.e. blowing up Alderaan doesn't really count...?
Dimp Paddy 07-11-2004, 04:48 AM if we're including disaster flicks then Day After Tomorrow must be up there, like half of the world is killed off, thats like 3 - 4 billion. But actual onscreen deaths? ummm, Kill Bill is big but I wouldn't say the biggest, I have seen some crazy as anime...
oh and good call on Hot Shots, man I love that film hahaha the little kill counter is class
King Goldfish 07-11-2004, 11:21 PM Muppets take Manhatten.. Gawd the horror of it all.
Actually I think they did some serious killing in the movie Dawn of the Dead that was just released.
brrr... i get the chills just thinking about that film.
Mr.Blonde 07-13-2004, 03:21 AM I think I have a muppets phobia..
Zensteve 07-13-2004, 03:25 AM Probably better than having a Muppet fetish \:D/
Mr.Blonde 07-13-2004, 03:27 AM *shudders* Yes, indeed it is.. Gah!!
Zensteve 07-13-2004, 03:48 AM Miss Piggy really is kinda cute, though....
Mr.Blonde 07-13-2004, 03:50 AM ...er...
Dimp Paddy 07-13-2004, 04:45 AM yeah, ....er.... is all you can really say to that...
Mr.Blonde 07-13-2004, 07:30 AM lol.. ....er.... & HELP ME!!!
Dimp Paddy 07-13-2004, 08:34 AM hahaha i think that line's for miss piggy... :P
