Agh!! Kill Bill vol2 isn't out here till thursday!!!

QT is a guest judge on american idol though tonight... proud to say that this is the first & last time I will ever watch idol.

I watch American Idol all the time. There's nothing wrong with talented people singing in a talent contest. And Quentin was pretty good on the show.

KB Vol.2 was alright to me. Not as good as Vol. 1 in my book, but it was completely different in the tone. I did like the parts with Elle Driver, but I was dissapointed in how her situation was resolved (or not resolved in my opinion).

Well, yeah. It's got a surprisingly twisted plot, 2 sexy guys showing off their ripped muscles, cool gorey fx, and amazing fight scenes! (I especially liked the one when Edward Norton was beating himself up. I was like, "wtf!" That's some pretty weird stuff.)

I'm quite a fan of his work too. For someone as young as himself, he sure does know what he wants and how to get it. Some people really are just naturals. He was born with his talent for a reason and that's why so many people are entertained by his work.

I think I rented it when I was a kid (because I saw a video from it on MTV), and it was the only time I've ever seen it. I love the original version (which I saw years later - many times), but the cheesy tinted one has stuck with me ever since that one and only viewing.

Yeah, I've seen it. If you like your 1920's German expressionism tinted with a little Queen and Pat Benatar thrown in, this version is a must see! :lol: (PS - the original theatrical version is available too) :-)

yeah the anime is pretty recent, but i havent seen any of the older films so i dont know if theyre related in any way.

Fritz Lang´s Metropolis and the 2001 anime film have similar themes, as both deal with futuritstic distopias. otherwise they are completely different films.
The 1930's film is of course a landmark in movie history but the cartoon is also groundbreaking in it´s own way, as it combines traditional 2d with CGI with stunning results.

But I did want to point out that there seems to be a pretty strong skew to more recent films on the list. Aside from the occasional Citizen Kane it's all stuff from the last 5-7 years.

You a fan of older films?

This will be tough, because I've probably not seen that many... I will exclude Metropolis and Cabinet of Dr. Caligari because they were on my first list. I'll also exclude Citizen Kane, King Kong, and Casablanca (though I like all three very much).

i probably did put a lot of recent films in my top ten actually. so here are some i enjoy that weren't made in the last 5 - 7 years.

But I did want to point out that there seems to be a pretty strong skew to more recent films on the list. Aside from the occasional Citizen Kane it's all stuff from the last 5-7 years.

You gotta understand that people will feel more of a connection with films that they grew up with...

...good observation, though. I honestly didn't notice at first.

I know there are some brilliant films in the history of cinema, I just don't get into older films as much, maybe it's an aesthetic thing. My top two favorite films are 2001 A Space Odyessy and The Exorcist, and I think 2001 is still ahead of it's time thematically and structurally. Geez, what an amazing film! People still don't get it, though...
