The editing was pretty good. There was a nice sense of timing and shot-to-shot composition of framing.
Color and lighting were mostly fine. The camera sensor struggles with sunlight on white, over exposed blowouts were just barely contained.
Some of the hand-held camerawork is right at the the too wiggly-jiggly point.
I'm not a fan of these no-dialog pieces, this one seemed to have sensibly occurring audio either real or dubbed for everything EXCEPT the protagonist which was odd.
Story-wise is where it struggled the most.
Fundamentally fine, it begins serious, gets slightly silly, then legit, then the lead starts hamming it up, then the car dealer thief just murders it, then... Oh! The purse and makeup bit was great, BTW.
And the story, even within the context of things that go wrong between a young man and his POS car, seemed to kinda drift all over the place.
- showcasing the smoking went nowhere.
- whatsup with buying scratch-offs if you're going to wait a whole day (or more).
- the car wash one "moment", car fails, lemin-aid the following "moment" wearing the same clothes, car fails again, for a good time "moment" next again wearing the same clothes, then eventually scratches off the lotto? The time is just all buggery.
