These guys made a very cool movie called Marla. They PDF'd a guide as to how they did it including how they made 35mm camera adaptor with which they shot the movie:

That looks freakin' awesome. I love the music from the teaser. I will be sure and drive my wife insane by singing all weekend.
Thanks for the link.

Did you get a chance to see the movie, or just the teaser trailer? If you haven't checked out the movie, you should it's really well done. :)

I remember thinking that Marla looked like Helena Bonham Carter when I saw the trailer. I thought it was a wierd coincidence.
Brilliantly, beautifully, and imaginately shot short film, but it left something to be desired as far as plot and story goes.

I didn't really "get it", either... but then again I never saw Fight Club, from which the character Marla was taken.
I would imagine it makes a bit more sense, if one was familiar with Marla's persona from that movie.
Regardless, it was a good little short film. :)

The "camera" they made looks really restrictive. They got some nice images out of it, but it looks hard to setup and shoot with it.

I agree exactly with the goat.
I like the film though, very edgy although obviously lacking a little on plot but not so much, the plot was in this chick's weirdo little life.
The 35 emulation looks beautiful, but the reason I'm not even considering it is the lack of movement available. It just looks fragile to me.

Did anyone read the How To pdf?
If you think it's fragile now, wait'll you hear how it's put together.
My first thought was, there has to be an easier way. Also, they did a ton of color correction after the shoot, so basically the adapter was not that big of a boon.
