I don't "avoid" festivals that aren't on withoutabox, BUT I have a day job, my research time is limited. If I hear about a festival somehow that isn't on withoutabox (I always enter Tromadance for example) I'll enter it, but if they aren't on withoutabox I probably don't know they exist.

They're a very well known organisation in the North West of the United Kingdom.

A solid group with a keen circle of creatives that attend and submit year in year out. They're hugely trusted and would recommend.

The Sheffield Doc Fest is hugely popular. Has a very big reputation in England and Europe. However, without sounding pessimistic and because I don't know you or your level of experience it is very hard to get into, the charge HUGE fees and don't offer full refunds if you don't get in. The competition is immense so only submit if you think your work is worth the gamble. Last year they showed 5 Broken Cameras and Searching for Sugarman so that is the level of documentaries they are after.
