Favorite Action filmscores

I don't watch a lot of straight-up action films (fantasy-action I watch tons of, sci-fi-action an equal number, you get the idea). Just got paid from a gig and looking to buy some cds to listen and learn from, and I'm sure there's tons in the genre that I haven't heard and are really good. So what are your favorites? What scores really stand out in the world of action movies?

The second and third "Bourne" movies. There's also a special feature in The Bourne Supremacy dealing with the music in the scene after Maria dies. Although I'm not musically-inclined at all, I found it interesting to see how they mixed two distinct emotions in that particular section.

Hi Josh

I hope you got paid a lot for your gig because I have quite a few for you.

Check out some Lalo Schifrin - Dirty Harry/ Enter The Dragon
Danny Elfman - Batman
Hans Zimmer - Crimson Tide
David Arnold - Stargate/ Independence Day/Casino Royal/Quantum of Solace
John Williams - Seriously anything. Jaws/Indiana Jones/Star Wars
John Barry - Get one of his James Bond soundtracks
Andrew Lockington - Journey to the Center of the Earth
Alan Silvestri - Predator/Back to the Future
Steve Jablonsky - Transformers
Elmer Bernstein - The Great Escape

Best film score I've seen in an action movie is from Shim Hyun-Jung and her work in The Man From Nowhere. Don't waste your money on buying the CD's, all the tracks are on YouTube, and the movie is on Netflix. Definitely something to check out, how her music is able to add to the emotion of the scene and action.

Dark Knight
Spiderman 2
Gladiator
Transformers
Star Wars: Episode I
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

I have a love/hate relationship with Hans Zimmer scores. They're very formulaic, and each of his scores are pretty much the same as the last one. But I'll be damned if they're not super effective for an action movie (he's had numerous scores mentioned in this thread, by different people).

I like loads of soundtracks, my favourites though are:
`Last valley` by John Barry,
`Starship Troopers` and `Conan the barbarian(1982)` by Basil Poledouris,
`Inception` and `Gladiator`by Han Zimmer,
`Lady in the water` by James Newton Howard,
Many others that I cant think of at the moment

Ditto.
Best score/fusion sounds there is!

Alan Silvestri - Predator - 2nd'd. just... amazing.
Andrew Lockington - Journey 2: Mysterious Island. Cheesy movie, outstanding score.
Gladiator - even if a good chunk of it is right out of Holst.
