What's the difference between these 2 lenses?

What's the difference between these 2 lenses from a filmmakers point of view? Besides $500. Is the cheaper lens better than the Tokina 28-75 2.8 which is at the very bottom?

Those links go to the same lens..

But it looks like the 28-70 is physically smaller and a lot of the reviews say it's a little soft.

The 24-70 also has a better auto-focus motor if you use it for stills. I know a lot of people love this lens and it's pretty popular, haven't heard much about the 28-70.

From a filmmaker's POV, the 24-70 is definitely nicer, but it may not be $500 nicer.
