View Full Version : Hair substance for sweaty, worn-out look?

To get that sweaty, I've-just-been-runnin'-through-the-woods-from-a-gigantic-monster look - particularly as it relates to making the hair look and stay wet - what would be the best substance?

Standard hair gel/pomade/etc would help the hair lay down and maybe even look darker/wet, but I think that would be too stiff and not let the hair move naturally during some shots.

It seems like an oil-based product would be more suitable (ie. not dry out quick like a water-based), but I severely lack knowledge in this area, and was hoping someone could recommend a product that would work.

(P.S. The actor would have smudges, dirt speckles, and whatever else to complete the effect.)

I appreciate the help!

Try coconut oil.

When I was younger I used some stuff called Bedhead I think. Might help you get that look.:)

I'm about to shoot something with a similar look. I'm planning to use coconut oil too. You can buy it at Wal-mart. It's actually sold in a jar as a soft solid, but it melts very quickly. Also is great to cook popcorn in too!
