watch Surreal Weird Short Film - Anastasia

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAJBK2bnWkI

This is a semi-silent film and I have embedded the film for easier access.

Pure Gonzo Journalism.

You tell it like it is, and I can relate to that. The postman really does come once a day. Is this based on a true story?

It's not based on a true story or anything like that.

But I was inspired enough to create this. Anastasia is more along the dark side. I usually do comedy.

Okey doke. Here goes.

It's a big world out there and I'm A-Okay with that.
Your (two year old) performance in ANASTASIA SEEKS SOLITUDE... scarred (not scared!) my mind for a bit as frankly very interesting - which, as I briefly look across your fantastic volume of 835 youtube uploads, is pretty consistent.

Kudos on finding "a cooperative and obedient man" (I doubt, BTW) to fantastically assist you at the NJ CHILLER CONVENTION.
I honestly can't tell if your snark+ignorance is legit or an act.
Your age shouldn't be an false defence impeding your knowledge of the guests behind the desks, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for act.

It looks like you're using the same camera for your ENG (electronic news gathering) as you do for your "Divine space".
Artistic choice or economic limitation of necessity?
Are the uploads to youtube destroying the resolution?

EDIT: Holy Moley! Are you still using that Sony VX 2100?

Now, here's Heisenberg's Uncertainty Rule at work:
I'll wager you're fantatsically resilient in some emotional areas but not in others. I don't have the slightest clue where your "soft spots" are, so be forgiving with me.
The more you interact with others the more both parties change, yet to different degree and positions. I'm guessing you're a control freak (meant in a positive way) and would rather "choose to make your own decisions to augment your product" rather than consider that you've changed anything, so I'll respect that.
It's all really INCEPTION-esque (that's a Hollywood movie you may have heard of and likely wouldn't enjoy).

Did you post here at IT for feedback for change, improvement on delivery or content, or what?
Surely you're not looking to scare up an audience, right?

You've a huge body of work across five years and plenty of hecklers indicating a tremendous commitment to your vision. I'm honestly impressed.

The Dali-esque performance art surreal, anti-HWood weirdness is fine by me. I just don't know what you want us to do with it regarding your product.

Where, in what direction, do you want to take your show?

PS: Tragic outcome I'd hope to avoid. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelyne

PPS: Is there such a thing as Folk Art Video/Film? I wonder if that's the realm of your product style.
Ray-ism: The purpose of art is NOT to make pretty pictures, but to PROVOKE AN EMOTIONAL RESPONSE.
This becomes relevant when considering where to market product to benefit your potential audience.

(Just watched your latest TIN STUFF - ZIG ZAG WANDERER. Tell your camera person they do a great job at not giggling and laughing, especially at your rooster call @ 3:20, but more importantly he/she does a decent job not zooming in and out like a madman and keeping on subject. GD! Did you get a lav mic? You did! I see it @ 4:56-58! Congrats! C'mon, don't keep us tech weenies in suspense. What's the mic? What's it jacked into? Give all the sexy-tech 4-1-1.
Maybe Ms Poopee Doodee can do an interview with the happy mic couple!)

PPPS: LMAO! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divine.
Start your wiki page! C'mon, brave girl! You're already got listed on QPT as one of their few long running shows/contributors.
Too effin' funny.
Don't just look at the brick wall like a silly, happy goat. ;)

PPPPS: You do most of your work in a single take, don't you? You don't do 'em four or five times and release the "best" take, do you?

Thanks for watching my film.
The short film - Anastasia seeks solitude was filmed at various angles withdifferent takes.
I wrote, directed and edited that piece.
I do not have a camera person so the camera is always on a tripod.

Anastasia is one of the more darker characters that I play.

The Zig Zag Wanderer is fun improvisation on the streets. (I have a friend who helps me with those outdoor shots). It has nothing to do with Anastasia.

My only regret with this film is that I think it may have been more weird if I made the first half completely silent with no talking.

I realy, realy like the acting. Its like the acting from a Guy Maddin movie...Maby jou soundrecording can be better....Also....I think joure movie is to bricht.....It does not fit the subject. Also the explenation part in the letter should be (or could be) shorter or more disorientated showing the unstable mindset of the protagonist. Its olmost 10 min....

Freedom of Speech - The Real Me......The sound of this video is so much better.....also.....this video is a much more visual appealing. Its a intresting noise performence. Ind I have seen and heard a lot.

I've never seen a Guy maddin movie.
But I do think that the monologue at the end could have been much shorter. I agree with you.
The sound can always be better, because I don't have the best sound equipment etc.

You should check out my other Anastasia pieces at http://www.msdivine.net/anastasia.php

Some of his short movies. I realy like the Hart of the world. Its a good concept....

Anastasia is in pain, something or someone is causing great discomfort in her ears. She attempts to find peace and is deeply disturbed by the external environment that surrounds her.

Watch this short experimental film by Ms Divine.

Music by Das Ich.

amazing! this is ART not like most of the crap posted on indietalk. you guys have a great future ahead of you! Vincent Gorno who worked for for over 20 years would even be amazed and he hated everything unless he made it or was in it. Bravo!
