Hello. I'm starting a production company w/my boyfriend. We're just getting started. We're coming up with ideas for TV shows, writing scripts, and writing films. I'm curious if anybody knows the average amount a new TV show idea sells for? (like if a production company or network is interested in buying a show from newbies like us) I know this can be a wide range of amounts, but if anyone has any knowledge to offer that would really help us. Thanks.

Just to be clear - no one buys ideas. Completed scripts are what
producers buy.

The Writers Guild of America has their minimum that a signatory
company can buy a TV script for. For the non Guild producers there
is no minimum so you're right - this can be a wide range of amounts
from as little as a few hundred to a few thousand to several thousand.

Hey Chy,

That's what we do. We are working a deal with HBO starting at $75K per episode. Then if you get a bidding war going it can go to $150K. So that's a good idea of what your looking at. Also we are looking for show ideas. So if you wanna chat PM me.

Excellent news about the HBO deal, Denny!

Can you tell us anything about it?
