I might be able to use this car as the prop car for a short.

It's a fun car and will be perfect for the scene. Thing is, I'd like to paint it up to look even rattier and hodgepodge; a patchwork paint job if you will.

Are there any removable, washable paints that would do the trick? I don't want to ask the guy unless I could decorate it and wash it all off after the shoot.

Otherwise I will probably print out some fake rust either on paper or transparencies and use a washable glue to paste it on.

Anyone here do any of this sort of faux finishing?

Thanks in advance!

I have seen the prop people go to town on a car using Streaks 'N Tips (http://www.filmtools.com/streaksn.html)

Small tip: Always do a test in an inconspicuous location on the car to make sure it doesn't do any damage after it's been washed off. Whether it be paint or glue or whatever. :)

I'm assuming he's in the middle of restoration. I bet if he allowed you to muddy up the thing, combined with the varying colored panels, it would translate as a heap?

I just hope he doesn't clean it up for me.

I think he is in the middle of some form of restoration and maybe has been for the last 5 years? ;)
