Hi Film Makers,

Has anyone had any experience of the Russian Krasnigorsk-3 16mm camera?

It can be bought for around $200 s/h and has been used by the great Spike Lee.

Looks like it can only take a very small magazine.

Can it be adapted to Super 16?
Can it lip sync with DAT?

Any answers appreciated,

Jason :?:

Have it checked out and modified before you use it.

If you are serious about a sync-sound film in super-16mm, I would highly recommend you rent reliable equipment, ie: arriflex.

There's an extensive discussion group about the K-3 on groups.yahoo.com.

It's an excellent camera, for what it is. It's a spring-wound non-sync camera, so you won't be shooting dialogue with it, and it only runs for about 25 seconds before the spring gives out, so you won't be making your breakthrough independent film with it (unless you're these guys: www.donutholethemovie.com).

But it is stable, takes a great picture, and is extremely affordable. If you get a good one, they're great to have around. If you get a bad one, just dump it and try again!
