Since there are a lot of questions going around regarding proper screenplay formatting, I thought this PDF from the Nicholl Fellowship was worth posting:

I find it to be one of the easiest and most straight-forward formatting examples on the internet. And it's awfully hard to argue with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences!

You know, its silly, but it gets the points across indeniably well.... i also imagine it took plenty of planning to get the page breaks and etc to line up in dialogue....with out randomly tossing in "Oh, this is a page break, so back to what we were talking about."

Yeah, it is a bit silly, yet clever and does a pretty good job at illustrating the parts of a script with clean, simple formatting.
