Canon SX20 is.

Sup?

I got a Canon SX20 is a while ago, and I was wondering if anyone had tried shooting something on it.
Casual video looks quite good (when recorded at 720p) but I have yet to try it at moviemaking.

Still, finishing a short script and wanting to shoot a cero budget short, I want to know if it's possible to get decent results.

Please excuse any grammar mistakes, since english is not my first language.

Absolutely!

You will face challenges when using that camera but with
some work and using your creativity, you can get decent
results. Use light well, get enough coverage and use good
actors. You will have some difficulty with audio so you might
want to record audio to an audio recorder using a nice
shotgun mic and sync it in post production.

Are you up to the challenge?

Challenge is just part of the fun! If I give up when trying to shoot a couple of scenes, I shouldn't even bother with film making.

Audio IS a major issue, since it has no mic in, built in mics are not up to the task, and I have no external recorder, so I'll have to rent it somwhere.

Talent will be hard to get though, since my friends think that every director ever started with million dollar budgets, and anyone else should stick to shooting home movies.

So your main concern isn't the camera. You have many other
challenges to face and overcome before you can get decent
results. Even if you had a top of the line camera you would
still face the challenges.

But as you say, that's just part of the fun. Good luck!
