trouble uploading pictures

i just got a canon t2i and when i upload pictures to the computer they become much darker. This is mostly with pictures with lower amounts of lights. On the camera you can see all the details in the picture but when i view them on the computer most of the picture is black. Ive tried using editing to brighten the picture but the qaulity suffers greatly because of the amount that i have to increase the brightness. anybody know a way to get my pictures from my camera to the computer with the same qaulity?

Im no expert but this might work. try lowering the contrast on your screen so you are veiwing the pictures darker on the camera to. Then you can adjust the settings accordingly.
