Hey everyone,

I'm producing a spec TV commercial that takes place at a DMV office. We are searching for a location that could pass as a DMV, the key identifying feature I think being counters where "customer service" is carried out. We are a low budget production, but can spend $500-$1500 on location....it is for 1 shoot day. We can work with a location that is bare and dress it, we just need a canvas to work with. We are shooting in the Los Angeles area, thanks for your recommendations.

Public library might work. They would have the long counter.

Have you tried searching for a location database in your area?

You could explore the route-if necessary- of a "Location scout", they will certainly find you a great location as to your need, but of course you'll have to pay them. Although your budget would definitely cover the costs.

Yet, i'd say, scour your local database. It should be easy enough to find on Google. Try, whether it be in vain or not, the DMV's in and around your city. You never know, you could catch it on a free.

Ask. Ask. Ask.

Thanks for your replys....

Turns out, you can film in any DMV location without a location fee as long as the DMV is closed...aka weekends....SCORE!

With basic liability insurance, there are tonnes of state assets in CA that you can use for free (or just the cost of supervision).

Have fun at the DMV.
