I was thinking about going w/ Lowel DV 44 kit, but I just hate the heat output ( & wattage issue ) of halogen lights. Do you guys have any all fluorescent kit recommendation? Is it harder to work w/ fluorescent lights?

Kinos are AWESOME! Low wattage, very little heat, no need for diffusion.
You cannot, however, spot them down, so most shoots I've been involved with have combined them with quartz and/or HMI fixtures.

There's a company that sells lights which are basically CFL arrays with barndoors and such. Can't recall the name right now, pretty sure I posted here once before though.

Kino Flo fixtures do have barn doors which allow you to flag them off, but spotting down requires a lens and I've never seen a florescent fixture (other than HMI) with a lens.

Yup.
Big fan of Kino's stuff - but as you say not really spottable. Not sure I've seen CFL based lights for spot, almost always for a softer look.

The one I was talking about is similar in design to the above, although can be purchased. Why I can't even seem to find my bookmark is beyond me.

I like the mixing bowl light.
Lots of interesting and easy to understand lighting thread responses lately (David and others), keep up the good work, it makes for great informative reading.
