Been shooting on a Panasonic DVX100A using the XLR to a shotgun mic. Wondering if its best to record using both channels or just one? Or if it even makes a difference?

Record both channels - one at normal level, the second at a lower volume as a safety in case of transients (volume spikes) so you have an undistorted version for audio post.
Weve been recording in just one. Is it ok to switch it up now since weve already been filming? Or should I leave it at one channel?
