watch My first attempt at an MV

Okay it's a preview. But I'll upload the actual one when I'm done!

Let me know what you think:

Thanks,

The style of the shots were pretty cool, but to my mind the editing is expandable.
The outside scenes were too short to convey their message, and they do not fit to the rythm.
Maybe this will work in the full music video, but in the little preview they disrupted a bit.

But all in all I am curious about it :)

We used two Canon 7Ds to film.

Here's the link to our YouTube channel. We're a small group and plan to make more videos soon, but most people on this forum are, haha. Feel free to subscribe!

Good song, your singer has a great voice :)

I echo the "outside" comments as well-almost too quick to catch what's going on. Also the mirror shot is a great one in car, as has been mentioned.

Maybe it's just my taste, but cutting A-B-A-B a couple of times with her playing the guitar, was a little too much repeat for me-also spacing the shots with her in the yellow shirt-mix those two up a bit more.

The boat shots and the car shots both worked well with the song, again maybe a tad longer for some of them.

As has been said, it's more about the editing-the shots themselves are well done, nothing wrong with them, just let them "tell" the story a little more :)

Good work :)

EDIT, for your first MV, I hope if I ever do one I can have as nice a shots, for your first one you've shown some good stuff!

Thanks for the comments! We only had one day to finish all the shooting (both lip syncing and outside), and we wanted to do everything during the day and avoid night shots (just for timing purposes, we had to finish at around 6 or 7 and started at 2). For that reason we had to give up the shots about the storytelling :(

We also used most of the "outside" shots we had - we didn't have much because we didn't ask the taxi driver to pause for us to film...etc. Hong Kong's a very busy place, haha.

Thanks again!

I like the camera shots outside. Mirror shots and the blurred shot that came into focus...I know that has a name but don't know it.
The shot of the girl just sitting was kind of boring. She looks good and sings well but just having a camera sit there is kind of zzzz.

Where the focus changes from one plane to another is called a rack focus :)
