Outside

OK I'm filming outside and there is no pwer source to plug into. Now what? Are they any cheap batteries I can purchase for the equipment or no?

Batteries are rarely cheap.

But yes, there are batteries that will power the camera
and the mic. There are even battery operated lights.

howbout a bit more info? What camera? what are you filming? What gear do you need to have powered while filming?

Iv been toying with the idea of "hybrid" power system for remote shooting.

Have a bank (or just one) of Uniteruptable Power Supplies for PC's modern ones can run 300w load for about 20 mins.
Have a small generator. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/to...l=true&cm_sp=Xsells-_-Manual-_-Product%20Page
Run the generator to keep the power supplies charged..

when getting ready to run film, shut off generator and run off battery back up.
shot done, kick on generator.

If you calculate the load you REALLY need to run. (a camera, a few LCD panels, small audio gear, laptop...) it might come out to well UNDER 300w and hence you'd get that much more time between generator running.

(create your own battery bank from deep cycle marine batteries and a power inverter to drive 120V loads)

Like Wheat said, we need more info. What type of Camera and equipment are you using?

Do you have access to a generator?

If they are battery powered, as stated, you could use those-but we don't know what you're using. :)
