Given how many delays and false starts the original RED went through, I expect that this camera might be a full year away from release.

Or more.

I hope not.

You may be holding on for a long time. Also note that second price is for a "fixed" lens that doesn't come off the camera.

Not sure why people think Scarlett is goign to be cheap.

They see the body price and think itll cost in that range.

RED body is $16,500. Most RED kits are 30k-60k.

It's also got better audio inputs on it... the beta program has begun and IIRC, there are scarlets out in the field being tested, so as with the RED ONE, not vapor ware, just taking their time on it... and as Jim has stated on his forum, as this is targetted towards more consumer/indy film folks, they're not just releasing it as an unfinished product as they did with the RED ONE, they're goingg through a testing phase so it's finished when it hits the market in full force.
