I'm trying to make a rig for my camcorder, but I need hot shoes to screw to it. Just the plain old thing but I can't find it anywhere! :hmm: I've looked at a lot of online stores and even some chinese knock-off factories. Does anyone know where I can buy these at? :huh:

Many people call it a hot shoe but it's usually not hot. For what, the mic? You'll want the mic on a boom pole, not a shoe.

Hmmm...does your light just have to connect to the hot shoe? Will it be 'plug and play' persay? You need just the connecting unit, or does it have to be 'hot'? Meaning, does it have to make your light work?

I may be sounding ignorant here...but am I making sense?

There's really no use for these in filmmaking. Lights go on stands, and mics go on booms. If a light is on the camera the light will move. No good unless you work in news. If the mic is on the camera you can't control the sound.

Actually, I use my camera's shoe mount for a french flag. Very handy! I've also occasionally mounted a small eye light there.

If not, I doubt you'll find such a thing at a video supply store, but check out suppliers for still camera equipment.
