Transferring my Standard Def film to film

Hello everyone. I may have a bit of a problem. Last year I made a little animated short film and I currently have all the data for the film saved on archival grade DVD-Rs. However, even though the media claims to have a lifespan of hundreds of years, I've heard how digital media can degrade in less than two decades. My film is very important to me and I thought that maybe the best way to archive this film would be to output it to film, which lasts for centuries. My other problem is that my film is at 720x480 resolution. I have read about how Shane Acker's original "9" short was output to film even though the film was roughly the same resoultion as my film. I don't believe that my film would look that great if it was blown up to fit the full 35mm frame. Is 16mm film fairly good for film archiving?

^I have to agree, or copy to a solid state SATA hard drive and leave it in a static-proof bag on a shelf somewhere... even a regular hard drive if it's out of a computer and in a static bag.
