If your a beginner, no.

It's much easier to screw up HD then SD.

The dvx100 is a work horse and a great starting camera.

Not to hijack this thread but I happen to have one of these along with the glass to shoot widescreen... I bought it several years ago to shoot a short -- shot it and except for maybe a few more hours of video, it's never been used... I do power it up a couple of times a month just to keep it in shape...

Anyway... Time to sell this thing. Anybody have ANY IDEA what a good price is for one of these in excellent condition with the glass?

eBay has about 30 of them for sale. Most are $1500-$1650, a few $1300 and a few $1800-$2000. I would suspect you can get a nice one for $1500.

Yeah I have been looking and that is the price range. I am currently very tempted buy a local one for $800 that has a proken DV out. He's been using it by using a consumer cam to dump his tapes.
