Canon BM70 Boom Mic repair

I got one of these mics with a 514XL-S camera. It works intermittently (I have to manipulate the boom to get it on). Something is rattling around inside the base. I would like to get inside to fix it. Has anyone done this? Are there screws along the main housing?

The question I'd ask is... why do you want to fix it?

Noone makes S8 film with sound stripes anymore. If you fix it, you still can't actually use it.

I 'spose you might have a stash of old stock on hand (which would be awesome)

Tryin' to restore old pieces, for archiving sake? Or planning to use it on other equipment?

But back on track to the actual Q...

I'm not much of a mechanic myself, so I have no hands-on experience.

However, this fellow has done a few step-by-step (with photos) of Canon 814 & 1014 breakdowns, including where the screw points are, tec.

The 514 has to be fairly similar in a lot of ways, and his guide/site should be fairly useful.

Good luck!
