Hello Indietalkers.
My name is Jonas Thorbjoern, 25 years old and from Copenhagen, Denmark (Europe). I´m, mostly, a self-tought film director.
I´ve wanted to be a professionel film director since the age of 9. I started writing, directing, shooting and editing my own short movies.
It was the movies by Spielberg that did the trick, (as I remember it was Jurassic Park) and it didn´t take me long to figure out that that´s what I wanted to do for the rest of my film.
Since then other directors influenced me. People like Luc Besson, Ridley Scott, James Cameron and Michael Bay (I could imagine that he is not the most famous director among a lot of you, many people seem to hate him.) but it was really the saturday night 6 years ago that influenced me the most: Watching Magnolia, by Paul Thomas Anderson. I still consider that movie as an endless source of inspiration and I always talk about Anderson as my Elvis.
Last June I graduated from the small, independente 6-month film school The Film & Photoschool Of Copenhagen.
And in a week I wil go to New York to direct 2 shorts I wrote and then go to Los Angeles in pursue of experience. I will be in N.Y. for some weeks and L.A. for over a month.
(If anybody feels like it, I´m always up for a cup of coffee in either city.)
