Professional Cameras

I'm not sure if this a valid question or not. Anyways, I'm wondering what kind of camera professional movies are shot on? I know it has something to do with 35mm film, but how does it have that high-quailty picture?

I guess I'm just curious and ignorant toward cameras...

Thanks.

Okay, thanks.

I have a few questions:

Why do the big leagues use film over digital?

There is 65 mm film?

You can only rent this kind of equipment, or is it on sale somewhere?

Thank you.

Film is the original motion picture medium. HD is used sometimes, but studios are not using prosumer HD cameras, they are also professional, expensive cameras.

You can rent or buy, but if making one film, you would rent. If opening a studio, or if you are a cinematographer, buying is an option.

When 35mm is blown up on the big ass screen you see in theaters
it maintains its image quality, unlike digital stuff.
Like when they show the commercials before the screening even begins
they use a regular projector. You can see the pixels.
that's why.

ok so let's say you live in a city where you don't have any place to rent a camera and the equipment you need to shoot your first film , you buy....but what should you buy without spending a fortune on the camera and equipment and still get a decent image and sound quality?
