“Return to the Sea” is a 26 minute documentary is a Central TAFE production, and will be screening December 9th 2009 at the Astor Cinemas, Perth.
‘Return to the sea” tells the story of Amer; a Lebanese man who was born in Ghana and has lived though two civil wars and has migrated countries four times. Amer is a charismatic and dynamic man with an insatiable love for the ocean. He shares his tumultuous life journey with us; of how he travelled far and wide to finally find peace and happiness with the Bardi community in One Arm Point Kimberly. Amer now lives in Pert with his wife Denise and his two sons Akume and Leon.
This documentary requires actors and extras for re-enactment scenes. The various talent that is required is as follows:
• Young Amer: Man in 20s/30s of Lebanese or similar background(Eastern Europe, Mediterranean). Slim to medium build.
• Liberian Girl: Woman in late teens to early 20s. Of Liberian or similar background, slim, 165-170cm, dark complexion.
Ghanian Women: 4 – 5 women in their late 20s to early 40s. Of Ghanian or similar background. One of these parts requires the talent to play the role of toddler Amer’s nanny. (If any of the talent own any traditional Ghanian or West African dress that would be great for the production).
• Liberian Teenagers: 4 – 5 men in teens to early 20s. Of Liberian or similar background. Of slim to athletic build.
• Amer’s Parents: A man and women aged 35 – 50 of Lebanese or similar background.
• Ghanian Musicians: 4 – 5 men aged 20 to 40. Of Ghanian or similar background. (If any of the talent own their own West African instruments that would be great to use for the production. If not, instruments will be supplied).
