I am working on making my short film, and Ive been experimenting in the edits. The setting is 2 people having conversation at the beach. Its going to be a 6 to 8min film, and im wondering if I can use the glow dream like effect. Here is a shot with 3 different edits

Please let me know what is recommended.

thanks a lot.

The GLOW BLUR seems to be blowing out too much detail in the hot spots. I'd try using a mask and keep the guy in focus a bit more and play with that maybe.

yeah I agree with sonnyboo, it kind of just degrades the footage.
the glow isn't bad, its more the blur.

The "glow" seems to be making the white highlights not have any detail at all in them. On the left side of the actor's face the final effect seems to remove any definition and color from the face.

There are other effects that can be used to get a "dreamlike" effects. Various color curves adjustments, pushing the blues higher, or green higher, and pulling down the magenta channel some.

Make a new comp.
Add your footage to the comp.
Duplicate the layer.
On the duplicated layer, set the layer mode type to "screen".
Add a blur effect (fast blur).
Vary the color, blur and transparency to get the desired effect.

Hope that helps.:D
