Got this website while watching a podcast. I'm sure some of you know of it and other not so much. So check it out. It's a site with free legal visual effects that you can use for your movies.

Yes, I've used some of their muzzle flash/explosion stock footage in some of my experimental films. They don't hold up well (although it really depends on editing skill I suppose), but they are great fun to look at. I've found that VideoCoPilot is higher quality (and he's releasing a followup to his original Action Movie Essentials pack... more blood, gore, flashes, explosions... etc)... although they can be pretty pricey.
I've had trouble with the blood splatter footage from Det Films... it just doesn't like Sony Vegas...

I like Detonation Films. Bought some of their discs a few years back, after playing around with all their free stuff. :)
