Coldhitz 05-30-2009, 01:59 AM I haven't watched one in a while... :) Pieces Of April was the last one that I enjoyed .:pop: iSqueak 06-23-2009, 05:51 PM Red Roses & Petrol is the last one I saw. Good movie about an Irish dysfunctional family. Don't see that too often ;p It has Malcolm McDowel in it. Motorstorm 06-23-2009, 06:40 PM Have you seen Somers Town or Little miss sunshine? sebbyp 06-23-2009, 08:16 PM I've been watching a lot of Guillermo del Toro's work lately. He's more arthouse than Indie, but he's the guy that directed Hellboy 2 and Pan's Labyrinth. I recommend Pan's Lab if you haven't seen it yet, or the Orphanage. Both really visually stunning movies. felonious 06-25-2009, 09:58 AM why dont you tell us some of the films youve enjoyed, so we can recommend something relative Uranium City 06-25-2009, 10:20 AM "Room" by Kyle Henry (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417096/ "Cavite" by Neill Dela Llana and Ian Gamazon (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0428303/ "Gretchen" by Steve Collins (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0473363/ Three indies I've seen this year that have become three of my favorite films. Coconut 08-08-2009, 07:58 PM 500 days of summer was excellent imo kgasser2 08-09-2009, 12:47 AM do you people know what art house is? i dont think little miss sunshine falls under that catagory... hahahaah. noobs florence 08-09-2009, 08:21 AM do you people know what art house is? i dont think little miss sunshine falls under that catagory... hahahaah. noobs yeah but it could go under indie countevil 08-09-2009, 08:48 AM do you people know what art house is? i dont think little miss sunshine falls under that catagory... hahahaah. noobs They said indie as well as art house so yeah Little Miss Sunshine counts. It's a great film regardless of whether you think it counts. I watched a film called Eagle vs Shark last night, that was pretty good. It's a New Zealand made film starring Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords. If you like Little Miss Sunshine or Napoleon Dynamite you'll probably enjoy it. Let the Right One In is a great film, a gothic horror fairy tale of vampires. It's set in Sweden and is in Swedish. The two main child actors do a really great job. I'm not sure if counts or not, but if Gulliermo del Torro counts then this must do. florence 08-09-2009, 07:38 PM They said indie as well as art house so yeah Little Miss Sunshine counts. CDCosta 08-10-2009, 07:56 AM Ouch. Looks like that noob comment came back to kick you in the ass huh? kgasser2 08-10-2009, 11:10 AM Ouch. Looks like that noob comment came back to kick you in the ass huh? not quite. if we want to be technical about it... he posted 'indie/art house' not 'indie or art house' which made me think he was looking for something that was both, not just one or the other. and i wasnt saying little miss sunshine isnt a good film, its just not what he is looking for. ( i think) i'm okay with getting bashed because i bash other people sometimes (obvi). lets just be smart about it itsuka 08-10-2009, 02:14 PM Indie films I enjoyed recently (not sure about art house): The Lives of Others This is England City of God Once Zwartboek Sweet Sixteen Inside I'm Dancing countevil 08-11-2009, 07:58 AM aww i love eagle vs shark! it's what i'd call a cute movie and yeah i really wanted to see let the right one in when it came out, but it'd gone from the cinema by the time i wanted to see it.. I managed to get to see let the right one in at a cinema for nothing, after general release. I do some work at a local theatre/art centre. They show lots of indie, art house and foreign films. It's worth seeing it on the big screen. But it's on DVD now so you can still see it. M1chae1 08-11-2009, 11:37 AM This one is great...my brother shot this. It won 'Best Short Under Ten Minutes' at the Ann Arbor Film Festival. Your idea of 'arthouse' is completely different than mine. Hmmm... dangerous mermaid 09-30-2009, 07:34 PM tell me what you like for arthouse films mr. m1chae1. haha i thought some of mine were pretty good, and certainly at least a few are considered arthouse. mostly indie though i guess. instruct me, as i am a mere basic member and you are of premiere status. :) IndieAnna 10-05-2009, 05:26 PM I agree with three that have been talked about here. (500) Days of Summer was so well done, and will leave you with a happy, lovey-dovey feeling. Red Roses and Petrol has the fabulous Malcolm McDowell. Pieces of April was wonderfully dysfunctional...actually so was Red Roses. Next Stop Wonderland is one that I haven't seen in a long time, but I remember finding it to be quite good. So there are some choices, depending on your mood.
