Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I thought seeming as I'm using HDv footage I can't be too far off. I recently started using AE and I was wondering should I export using 32 bit or is 8 bit ok?

It really depends on the delivery format. In some cases, the 8 bit is fine, in others you can take advantage of the higher bit rates. Consult the CODEC.

all displays are 8 bit, 4.2.0
that is 8 bit per channel, i think that means the 24 bit option in after effects
AH, I JUST REMEMBERED!
Don't bother with 32 bit i think that's just to export an alpha channel as well
8+8+8+(8 for the alpha ch)= 32
