Hi all,
I'm getting ready to send a license agreement and a certificate of authorship to a writer for signature. Does anyone know if these contracts need to be notarized or co-signed by a witness? Please don't speculate -- I'd like to hear what you've done for your contracts.

Sorry such a terse message - getting ready for a trip. Please let me know ASAP - I gotta send it out today. Thanks!

Is it required? NO

Can it hurt? NO

Enforcement of any contract, notarized or otherwise, is still a civil matter and only enforceable by civil litigation by you.

I'd just have it so that everyone signs EACH page (if there's multiple pages). Email them a copy of the contract too. That's additional evidence in case they challenge the wording of the contract in court some day.

I have never had a contract notarized.

Ever.

Make sure you both have signed copies, and try to sign each page, or at least initial each page. Not speculating, this is how I have done it.
