books on basic editing/basic of editing?

On 23-10-08, in this forum EvsFX08 asked about books on advanced editing--I'm quite some way from that level.

I'm soon to get my first digital video editing rig together, and will surely need some books on the basics of editing. Are any here able to recommend some specific books on the basics? And, perhaps to fill the "gap in between", recommend some books that might be considered "intermediate"...?

I haven't read many books on editing but In The Blink of an Eye by Walter Murch (look at his imdb page if you dont know him) had a lasting impression on me. Its short and not so intimidating and a good read.

Blink is a great book. There's really not much out there on editing as a craft.... plenty of how to use the software types of books, but not much about the actual editing itself.
